Abstract : It is generally agreed today that the muslim's holy book, Qura'n is a source of light for showing the path of rectitude to all human beings. Altho ugh, most of verses usually possess self-evident interpretations, there are some interpretations which go beyond the traditional text-level analysis. Accordingly, the present study aimed to investigate the notions of heaven and hell in the holy suras of Qura'n based on pragmalinguistic analytical approach. For this purpose, all verses containing the notions of heaven and hell in the Event surah (Al-wagiah), the 57 chapter of the holy book, were purposefully selected. Then, using direct/indirect typology concerning the illocutionary force associated with the target notions, the frequency values were specified. Finally, the strategies underlying the application of warning and promising (i.e notions of heaven and hell) speech acts within the target corpus were identified. The findings revealed that there was no meaningful difference regarding the degree of directness indirectness in addressing the God's servants. Besides, directive illocutionary type which was the dominant way of addressing the God's servants with regard to the notions under investigation, cited indirectly in order to warn and make consideration on selecting the way of the life..
