Abstract	:	Studies of the relationship between language and social stratification are related to numerous comparisons of speech practice - based on cross-cultural, gender, and ethnic differences. Perhaps most prominent are investigations of linguistic varieties between women and men. This research is a study of a very significant aspect of day-to-day interactional discourse: the phenomenon of greeting. The study examined the types and structural organization of greetings of males and females of the Persian community in city of Kerman and the sociolinguistic factors that account for this structuring. It also suggested that deference to gender, age, time, space, education and relationships are powerful factors in the organization of Persian greetings. Then, the data had shown in some respects that there are differences between the types and structuring of male's and female's greetings. Finally, the gathered data are discussed based on Brown and Levinson's politeness theory. In the present study, the qualitative method was used to analyze the data.
