Abstract	:	This thesis proposes a new method to construct a distributed diagnoser having a coordinated decen-tralized architecture that consists of local sites communicating with a central unit. This diagnoseris shown to be equident, in diagnosability, to the centralized diagnoser of Hashtrudi Zad. The keyfeature of the proposed distributed diagnoser is that it achieves the same diagnostic performance asthe centralized diagnoser, without making any further assumptions. Another important feature ofthis diagnoser is that it provides the freedom to start the diagnoser at any time during the operationof the system and not necessarily when the system is started. A test case - a practical problem- involving the design of the distributed diagnoser for a nonlinear continuous-time system is alsodiscussed in the thesis..
