Abstract : This thesis discusses a new synthesis approach to the supervisory control for Dis-crete Event Systems (DES).The new approach, named S(rnart)TCT after the old CTCT, is much more efficientthan the existing synthesis approaches. Usimg STCT, many practical systems can besynthesized using a personal computer. Besides, it is shown that the number ofnodes in the Integer Decision Diagram (IDD) representing a DES cao be a bettermeasurement of the complexity of the DES than the number of states.The structural information in a given.
