Abstract : Cultivating electric power from natural mechanical vibrations via micro-generators has been attracting the attention of researchers for its potential innumerous applications. The focus in this thesis is on the analysis and the design ofsuch generators to improve their characteristics and broaden their applications. Two critical performance characteristics are addressed and schemes forimprovement are proposed: the operating frequency bandwidth and the availablepower. The first characteristic is the most critical since present generators aretuned to a specific frequency where power can be available while mostapplications require operation in a wide frequency range. The multi-generatorsystem concept is introduced in this thesis to broaden the bandwidth of the systemand facilitate capturing sufficient power over a predefined range of frequencies.,.............-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
