Abstract : Hurt, David, An Empirical Evaluation of Communication and CoordinationEffectiveness in Autonomous Reactive Multiagent Systems. Master of Science(Computer Science), May 2005, 81 pp., 11 tables, 36 figures, references, 28 titles. This thesis describes experiments designed to measure the effect ofcollaborative communication on task performance of a multiagent system. A discreteevent simulation was developed to model a multi-agent system completing a task to findand collect food resources, with the ability to substitute various communication andcoordination methods. Experiments were conducted to find the effects of the variouscommunication methods on completion of the task to find and harvest the foodresources. Results show that communication decreases the time required to completethe task. However, all communication methods do not fare equally well.
