Abstract : The discrete wavelet transform provides sufficient information both analysis andsynthesis of the original image with a significant reduction in the computation time.There are two approaches for working on the above algorithm, one being by using twodimensional filters and the other one by using separable transforms that can beimplemented using a one-dimensional filter on the rows first and then on the columns. Inthis research, we have implemented wavelet decomposition and reconstruction using aone-dimensional transform applied on the rows first and then the columns. For an NxMimage size, we filter each row and then column with the analysis pair of low-pass andhigh-pass filters and down sample successively to obtain four bands after decomposition.Later, during image reconstruction, we up sample and filter each column and then rowwith a pair of synthesis low pass and high pass filters to obtain the original image size.This algorithm has been implemented in real-time by using the floating-point processorTMS320C6701 chip manufactured by Texas Instruments (TI) that is widely used for.............-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
