Abstract : This thesis report details the design process of a hardware random numbergenerator in a 0.12pm CMOS process. The random number generator uses the amplifiedRTS (Random Telegraph Signal) noise of minimal MOS devices as the source. The noiseis amplified and then converted into digital voltage levels (random numbers) by means ofa comparator. A fully differential approach has been developed for the design of therandom number generator which serves many advantages such as high common-moderejection ratio, power supply rejection ratio etc. First the design specifications of thesystem have been identified, based on the requirements of the RNG (Random Number............-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
