Abstract : A new theory of spin-stabilization of magnet levitation is presented which explainshow this levitation circumvents Eamshaw's Theorem. The theory shows that stablelevitation depends on an adiabatic invariant condition requiring a minimum valuefor the precession frequency due to magnetic torques. The adiabatic invariant issimilar to the invariance of the magnetic moment of a charged particle in a mag-netic mirror and to the quantum magnetic moment used for magnetic trapping ofBose-Einstein condensates.
