Abstract : The environmental impact resulting fiom the release of trace elements during coalcombustion is an important issue for the coal-fired electric utility industry. Traceelements exit the combustor by partitioning between the flue gas and the fly ash particles.A comprehensive study has been conducted to investigate the mechanisms governing thepartitioning of trace elements during pulverized coal combustion. The behavior of seventrace elements (arsenic, selenium, antimony, cobalt, cesium, thorium, and cerium) in sixpulverized coals were studied under commercially relevant conditions in a well-describedlaboratory combustion environment......-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
