Abstract	:	This dissertation deals with applications of the wavelet transform and otl1c.rdigital signal processing techniques to solve various problems associated wit11( 1 ) transient power line disturbances and (2) wireless communication systems.\\'ith regard t o power line disturbance analysis. first. a real time powerdisturbance detection method is developed which consists of an adaptive pre-diction error filter t o extract the disturbance from the power line signals. and aSG-C.4 CF-AR (stopand-go cell-average constant alarm rate) detector to pro-~ i d e robust disturbance detection. In our tests this algorithm achieves a 100 detection rate and an esact disturbance starting time for distribution a r dtransmission line disturbances.
