Abstract	:	An algorithm for the automatic construction of a classifier for non-stationarysignals is developed. The algorithm uses time-varying wavelet packet analysis tolocalize the time-frequency properties that are relevant to the discrimination betweenclasses. The algorithm combines the time-varying wavelet packet analysis of thesignals with a decision tree-based classifier that partitions the input space into hyper-rectangles and assigns a single class to each partition.
