Abstract	:	This dissertation is based on the analysis of a pattern recognitionproblem in molecular genetics. The patterns are produced by an analyticalprocess called genotyping that describes an individual's inherited characteristicsat one or more specific locations in the genome. Although modem instrumentscan produce thousands of genotypes per week, efforts to develop decisionsupport software to interpret and classify the complex patterns have achievedlimited success.
