Abstract	:	Quasi-optical grid amplifiers and oscillators have been limited in power toless than a watt at Ka-band until recently. Additionally, measurements of gridstructures have been done with far-field techniques, making reflection measure-ments difficult. Some focused techniques have been used as well. Here are pre-sented a 5-watt grid amplifier at 37.2 GHz, and a grid oscillator, after MoonilKim, that shows 1 watt of effective transmitter power at 38GHz. Focusedbeam measurement techniques are also discussed, introducing a new methodto calibrate a network analyzer for reflection measurements. Measurements arepresented on passive structures to validate the calibration technique, and thenmeasurements of the active structures are presented.Following the presentation of the 5-watt amplifier and 1-watt oscillatoradesign technique for a 10-watt grid amplifier is presented, along with a modeconverter that allows the grid to be fed from a standard waveguide port.....-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
