Abstract	:	Current biological database systems that provide fundamental information aboutbiopolymers range from simple keyword-based search engines to integrated sequenceanalysis programs. Advances in bioinfonnarics and the wealth of accruing information needmore powerful information management and analysis systems. We present the inhsmctureof a bioinforrnation system called BIOMIND for the muld-dimensional analysis of proteins.This is based on a statistical approach to the study of proteins. The scheme presented hereviews proteins as composite entities with property attributes, and dows for flexible searches.Expliady, d m dows one to Game complex queries not possible with systems based purelyon a text-matching approach.
