Abstract	:	This paper presents a water level measurement system that uses Frequency DomainReflectometry (FDR) - A discrete stepped fkequency signal is t r a m i t ted into sensory linethat interfaces an air-to-water boundary. Due to the water on the sensory line. the char-acteristic impedance of the line is different than its impedance in air. With the sensoryline well terminated. a single reflection occurs. The sum of the transmitted and reflectedsignals generates a standing wave as a function of fkequency. The frequencies of the minimain the standing wave determine the water level. A calibration is required to correlate theminima to water levels. A quadratic curve fit is utilized to find each minimum accurately.The system is low cost and water levels can be determined with an accuracy finer than3 rum.
