Abstract : Smart Antennas are used in modem mobile communication systems to enhance thedesired signal and suppress the interjkrence arising due to Co-Channel Interjierence(CCQ, A&cent Channel Interfierence (AC. and multipath. Null Steering and PatternControl in Tracking Beam Smart Antenna Arrays is camrt?ed out to combat theseinterferences. A Numerical Pattern synthesis algorithm is used to synthesize the desiredpatiem with main beam in the direction of the desired signal and nulls in the direction ofthe interferences. Complex weight (Amplitude and Phase) perturbations are used toachieve the desired Array Pattern. The ESPRIT algorithm is used to estimate theDirection OfAm-val (DOA) of the signals. In the DOA estimation, signal environmentswherein, signals uncorrelated with each other and signals completely correlated(Coherent multipath) are considered. Simultaneous estimation of both DOA andfrequency is also done to deal with ACI. The ejJect of change in number of elements of thearray, S . of the signals and separation between the signals is also studied.
