Abstract	:	This study quantified ocean primary productivity (OPP) rates within the easternCaribbean Sea during 1998-99 using ocean color imagery from the SeaWiFS instrument aboardthe Orbview-2 satellite launched by NASA in September 1997. The Vertically GeneralizedProduction Model (VGPM), a model developed to calculate global production, was impIementedand configured with ancillary data from the AVHRR sensor, ISCCP cloud Climatology data andchlorophyll-a estimates from SeaWiFS to produce initial OPP images at a spatiaI resolution of -2Krn.
