Abstract	:	Thiobacillus ferrooxidans is a chemolithoautotrophic bacterium capable ofderiving energy by oxidizing a variety of inorganic sulfur compounds and ferrous iron. Itwas assumed to be an obligatory acidophile growing at pH range of 1.5 to 6.0 with anoptimum growth at pH 2.5.
