Abstract	:	This dissertation studies models for the analysis of market efficiency andbidding behaviors of market participants in electricity markets. Simulation models aredeveloped to estimate how transmission and operational constraints affect thecompetitive benchmark and market prices based on submitted bids. This researchcontributes to the literature in three aspects. First, transmission and operationalconstraints, which have been neglected in most empirical literature, are considered inthe competitive benchmark estimation model. Second, the effects of operational andtransmission constraints on market prices are estimated through two models based onthe submitted bids of market participants.
