Abstract : The main technological challenge preventing the widespread use of fuel cells is thelack of economical availability of pure hydrogen. This problem can be solved byconversion of methane to hydrogen using reformer technology. In this research, a steadystate model of a reformer system, using Aspen PLUS TM, is developed. The modelindicates that the production of hydrogen at sufficient purity and mass flow for theoperation of a 5 kW fuel cell is feasible.
