Abstract	:	The generation, propagation, and polarity conversion of nonlinear internalsolitary waves (ISWs) in the northeastern South China Sea (SCS) are studied based onsatellite images, field measurements and numerical models. One hundred and sixteenISW packets are observed in remote sensing images acquired from 1995 to 2001,including ERS-112 SAR images, RADARSAT-1 SAR images, and SPOT visibleimages.
