Abstract : The iiiultiple aiiteniias comiiiunicatioii system have been well studied in wire-less coirmlunication during recent years to increase the rate or performance of awireless communication system. By exploiting the independent multipath propaga-tions during different transmitter-receiw pair. a AIISIO system can either increasethe data throughput or operation range a t the same bandwidth and same overalltransmit power. In order to exploit the potential high rate or high performance.space-time coding plays a proininent rule in hlIMO research.In this dissertation. we focus on the lattice based STBC design. The mainadvantages of this design metliod are: the linear structure present us a systeiiiaticconstruction method for variable data mte at the same time permit simple decodingmethod like sphere decoding at the same time.In Chapter 2, a new systematic cyclotomic lattice design scheme is proposedfirstl3- by using algebraic number theor!.. As an application. it is used for diago-nal STBC (cyclotomic STBC) and linear pre-code for Rayleigh fast fading channel.Furthermore. optimal cyclotomic STBC/lattices from the design for different nuill-bers of transmit antennas are obtained based on the nornialized diversity productscriterion....,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
