Abstract
:
computational model of illusory contour formation is presented. Drawing onextensive behavioral and neuranatomical data, the model provides a unified ac-count of several key issues of non-stereoscopic illusory contour perception, in-cluding completed boundary shape, depth stratification and conditions for depthinstability. Model simulation is applied to an image testbed and results are com-pared with expected perceptual outcomes. It is demonstrated that several novelaspects of the proposed architecture address limitations in the explanatory powerof other neurally based models.
