Abstract	:	The multilevel matrix converter was proposed as a new approach to the powerelectronics of variable-speed wind turbine applications. The converter was designedto increase the energy capture of wind turbine systems by improving the converterefficiency under low wind speed condition, where typical wind turbine systems operatemost of the time, without sacrificing the performance at the rated condition. Multilevelmodular approach employed in the multilevel matrix converter is scalable to higherpower and higher voltage levels, allows the use of superior low-voltage fast-switchingsemiconductor devices in high-voltage high-power applications. Besides, it can alsomaintain high efficiency at partial of its rated power...tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
