Abstract : To evaluate reaction rates for making hydrogen from methanol, kinetic studies ofmethanol decomposition, methanol steam reforming, water gas shift reaction, and COselective oxidation have been performed. These reactions were studied in a microreactor testing unit using a commercial Cu-ZnO/A1203 catalyst for the first threereactions and Pt-Fely-alumina catalyst for the last reaction. The activity tests wereperformed between 120-325 "C and atmospheric pressure with a range of feed ratesand compositions.For methanol decomposition, water addition to the feed increased the yield ofhydrogen and reduced the formation of by-products.
