Abstract : This dissertation presents circuit models and control algorithms of fuel cell baseddistributed generation systems (DGS) for two DGS topologies. In the first topology, eachDGS unit utilizes a battery in parallel to the fuel cell in a standalone AC power plant anda grid-interconnection. In the second topology, a Z-source converter, which employs boththe L and C passive components and shoot-through zero vectors instead of theconventional DC/DC boost power converter in order to step up the DC-link voltage, isadopted for a standalone AC power supply.tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
