Abstract	:	This thesis describes the development of a comprehensive procedure to automaticallyfilter and segment Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. Several different imageprocessing operations, including filtering and segmenting processes, were studied andresearched. The end result is a software package developed in Java to implement andevaluate each of these operations. Several examples are displayed and discussedthroughout this paper. The comprehensive procedure developed for this thesis consists ofan optimal combination of filtering methods and segmentation techniques.
