Abstract	:	Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) techniques promise quantum increases indata rates, network capacity and quality of service over existing single-input-single-output(SISO) techniques through the use of an antenna array at each end of the communicationslink. Although system-level issues have been largely solved for a f~t-st-generation deploymentin wireless local-area networks (WLAN) and cellular systems, numerous challenges remain atthe circuit implementation level, especially in the radio-frequency (RF) and analogsubsystems. Two main issues are (1) the design and implementation of compact, low-powermulti-antenna receiver RF front-ends for multi-band operation and (2) the design of high-speed, high-fidelity analog-to-digital converters.
