Abstract : Using a conventional design approach, it can be shown that when the noise figure ofLow Noise Amplifiers (LNAs) is sub-optimal, it is due to input losses and mismatches.While losses are implementation dependent (low Q substrate, lossy package and boardtraces, etc.), mismatches are usually due to design choices (such as the noise-inputmatch tradeoff), frequency dependence of component impedance values, measurementand modeling errors and manufacturing variations. This work shows that the impactof all such mismatches on amplifier noise figure can be substantially reduced by de-sensitization. Desensitization refers to a power-.
