Abstract	:	With shrinking feature sizes, increasing die sizes, scaling of supply voltage, increasing inter-connect density, and faster clock rates, global system-on-chip buses suffer from three majorproblems: delay, power, and reliability. In this dissertation, we have taken a communication-inspired view of the on-chip bus to solve the above three problems. By modeling the busas a communication channel, we apply ideas from communication theory t o enable high-speed, low-power, and reliable bus design. The two main techniques explored are codingand equalization..
