Abstract	:	tests to see whether the culture had an effect on the observation of this maxim or not. The findings revealed that not only native speakers of Persian but also native speakers of English language violated the quantity maxim of Grice in their writing. Although statistically significant difference existed between Persian articles written by Iranian writers and English articles written by native speakers of English language regarding the observance of quantity maxim, this difference did not show a statistically significant difference considering English articles written by both group. In fact, the frequency of violation of this maxim in Persian articles was more than those of native English Articles. This difference, however, was not statistically significant when considering Persian and L2 English articles written by the same Iranian authors. The data quantified as such were then subjected to independent sample and matched T-mentioned articles with regard to observance/non-This study aimed to reconsider the role of culture as an extra linguistic factor to examine whether or not it can influence the observance of Grices quantity maxim when writing in L1 and L2 .To achieve this aim, I selected and compared 30 psychological articles written by Iranian and native English writers. The corpora included 10 Persian articles written by Iranian authors, 10 English articles written by the same Iranian authors, and 10 English articles written by the native English authors. These articles were selected from different journals of psychology. The researcher then rated all the sentences included in the discussion and result sections of the above.
