Abstract	:	A typical mechanically-scanned antenna for geostationary satellite mobile communicationscovers elevation angles up to 60 degrees. This coverage limitation renders the antenna of littleuse in many areas of the earth. This limitation can be relieved by an electronically-scannedantenna array which covers elevation angles up to 90 degrees. Such an array also has advantagesover a mechanically-scanned antenna such as faster satellite acquisition and tracking and lower.
