Abstract	:	The recent commercial success of WLAN, especially the IEEE802.11 family triggered a lotof interest in using this technology in Internet wireless access everywhere. In metropolitanareas, 802.1 1 will be mostly used in what is known as "hot spots". These are public areaswith broadband wireless access over relatively short distances (about 100 meter maximum).In rural areas, however, the same technology can be used for point-to-point or meshnetworking among small communities.
