Abstract : This thesis presents a magnetron sputtering-based combinatorial methodology that hasbeen developed to synthesize new electrode materials for Li-ion batteries. A binarysystem of Mol-,SnX was chosen to sputter continuously and linearly for O<x<l and theeffects of film structure and composition on the electrochemical behavior were studied.X-ray diffraction results indicate that as x in high-pressure deposited Mol-,SnX increases.
