Abstract	:	The challenges encountered while designing the silicon ASICs for three short reach opti-cal interconnects will be described. Many of the difficulties encountered at the chip levelwill be analyzed. These will include how to route the large lines required to power thetransceivers, how to reduce the large number of individually controlled analog signals,and how to group the transceivers when doing the top level.
