Abstract	:	Research surrounding acoustic resonance properties of ice has increase4 and now apractical method for depth profiling has been developed. Experiments wrc per-formed in real-time nit h high sensitivity. biauial. wide bandn-idt h accelerometers ( 10KHz bandwidth). which encompassed a high sampling rate of 200 Kb/sec,/channelwith a i h b i t resolution (36 dB). The implementation of signal processing produceda seisniic and resonant signature. Initially repeated results revealed an accurate cor-relar ion between ice depth to its characteristic frequency The required velocity wasdetermined using the time of a r r i ~ ~ l and the cross-correlation between transducers.Theoreticd malysis has indicated that the system will be capable of resolving mlllciesclose to the theoretically calculated error of less than 6 ; this device t hcrefore canbe readily realized as a compact portable field instrument..
