Abstract	:	jiariational problems are ubiquitous in science and economics. In phj-sics. for esample.the state of a system is often modelled to be the one that minimizes its total free energyunder specified constraints. For the problem of Xficromagnetics. we have four seperateenergy terms that compete with each other as we try to minimize their sum. In thecase of large bodies. it can be shown through scaling arguments that one of theseterms. t h e eschange energy. can be taken out of the total energu- sum. However. thisseemingly simplified model leads to interesting phenomenae of weak convergence thatare of interest to researchers in nonlinear anal -sis. probablity. and conves analysis.In this thesis. we present an introduction t o the tools necessary to understand theproblem as well as physicaI examples that motivate the theory developed. Extensionsof existing results are presented as well as suggestions for improving the model oflarge body Alicromagnet ics..
