Abstract	:	The speed of CPU is growing continuously whereas the speeds of disk devices have notchanged significantly in the past ten years. The use of multiprocessing has reduced thecompletion time for the "compute" component of an application. As a result the I/Osubsystem is the performance bottleneck for many VO intensive parallel applications. Toimprove the I/O subsystem performance and address this I/O bottleneck, parallel disk.
