Abstract	:	In a code division multiple access (CDM-4) system, the presence of the multiple accessinterference (&I-41) limits the number of users that can simultaneously communicateover the channel. To overcome the detrimental effects of the M-41, the use of a multi-user detection (MUD) algorithm is needed. Many MUD algorithms proposed in theliterature involve the use of complex maximum-a-posteriori (&lAP) decoders thatprohibits their use in many practical applications. The goal of this research project.
