Abstract : Synthetic aperture radars (SAR) are extensively used for military and civilianapplications. Compared to real aperture radar, SAR systems synthesize a long an-tenna by means of a moving carrier (e.g. aircraft) in order to obtain high resolutionSAR images. SAR systems have the advantage of long-range propagation of signalsand modern complex information processing capability to provide high resolutionimagery.For coherent processing of SAR signals an accurate knowledge of the co-ordinatesof the sensor during data acquisition, i.e. at each pulse transmission or pulse repe-tition interval is necessary.
