Abstract : Code syncbronisution is us an uttempt to synchronise the receiver clack to the transmitter clock. The process q'acquiringthe timing infomation of the transmitted spread spe~tmm signal is essential to the implementation ofuny.fom spreadspectmm technique. The overall prtem pefomance is dictated b_y the code acquisition subytem since other subytemsreiy on a su~ressftrl code AcquisitionIn C D M gutems, the signal to inteference plus noise ratio at the receiver dqendr on the dip pulse shape used inspreading the user signals. The pefomance of tbe aquisition iystem was extended using the Improved Gaussianapproximation whichgives a better account ofthe fffect ofintefirence on the CDMA ytem.The threshold should be set above the noise level, thus an estimate ofthis figure is required by the detector. Under stablechannel conditions the threshold Lan be fixed but in dynamic channel conditions, where inte$irence is present, adaptivethreshold s~ emes should be zrsed.
