Abstract	:	The purpose of this thesis is to study the applicability of new approaches likethe Ridgelet and Curuelet transforms to real-time image stabilization and de-noising. Real-time image stabilization and de-noising is an important requirementin many critical applications. One of the important tasks towards achieving thisobjective is to first find a sparse representation of images.Images usually have discontinuities in the form of linear or curved edges.Popular tools like the Wavelet transform are not able to represent such imagessparsely. The search for sparse representations led to the development of theRidgelet and Curvelet transforms which seem to show a lot of promise.In this thesis we demonstrate the use of the Ridgelet transform in stabilizationof simple images which correspond to 2-D step functions. We also discuss apossible application of this approach to the case of stabilization of more compleximages using the Curvelet transform.
