Abstract	:	The Clean Air Act (CAA) seeks to protect public health from harmful effects ofsix criteria air pollutants: particulate matter (PM), carbon monoxide, lead, sulfur dioxide,nitrogen oxides and ozone (03). Amongst the criteria air pollutants ozone and PM arecurrently receiving a great environmental concern due to its harmful effects on humanhealth.Ozone is an unstable, poisonous allotrope of oxygen that is not directly emittedinto the atmosphere. It is a secondary pollutant that results from complex chemicalreactions in the atmosphere. It is formed when the primary pollutant oxides of nitrogen(NO,) react with non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC) or volatile organic compounds(VOC) in the presence of sunlight.
