Abstract	:	Electronic systems are becoming ever more complex and must fit increasingly short time-to-market windows. As a result. the design of these systems has become a very complicated.distributed process where a large number of engineers must collaborate. Current designmethodologies lack the features required to manage this process complexity. The design processmanagement (DPM) field has aimed at filling this void, but has not successfully addressed anincreasingly important DPM issue: the management of design constraints. Lack of n systematicconstraint management approach results in very costly iterations late in the design cycle. The issueremains largely unaddressed. mainly due to the complexity of the knowledge needed to manage awide variety of constraints. We begin this chapter by discussing how recent design trends requiredesign methodologies with DPM features. We then focus on constraint management. byenumerating the constraint management features that design methodologies must include.Following a review of previous work, we overview our proposed methodology model.
