Abstract	:	In the realm of science. problems involving reconstruction of a function, given partialinformation about the function. are among the most fundamental. They arise in a myriadof practical applications, in addition to being of intrinsic mathematical interest. Theseproblems are often ill-posed inverse problems since the partial information is not enoughto guarantee a unique solution. In this situation, finding conditions that regularize theproblem so that a unique (or almost unique) solution exists is often of great value.This dissertation extends previous work on discrete phase and magnitude retrieval.I n particular. it is shown that a finite signal can be reconstructed from its discrete Fourierxnagnitude and certain strategically placed samples.
