Abstract : During the development and maintenance of a large real-time system. it is difficult to fullyunderstand system semantics and maintain system consistency due to complex system semanticdependencies. Logical semantics. timing. and shared resources constitute the three principledimensions of semantic dependencies,Semantic dependencies introduce hidden side-effects into the system because they are oftennot esplicitly documented in the source code. When the system consists of multipleconfigurations. these side-effects become much more obscure and inconsistent configurations atruntime are likely, Certain fault recovery mechanisms and domain-specific applications canintroduce such multi-configuration systems. When making a change to the system. the scope ofchange is too comples to be handled without automation. since.....-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
