Abstract : This the& presents the k t time-dependent transport model of auroral electrons. Theevolution of the spherical electron intensity in phaee space is studied for a variety of incidentelectron intensities. It is shown that the secondary electrons with energia < 10 eV and ataltitudee > 150 km can take over 300 ma to reach steady state in phase space. Since thereare bright optical emissions in this region, such a time dependence in the auroral electronsis important. The emisaiona of Na(2PG) 3371 A and N;(LNG) 4278 A are studied for timevaryingelectron pulses to show for the first time that this ratio will change until the secondaryelectrons reach steady state in the ionoephere. The way in which the 3371A14278A ratiochanges with timevarying precipitation depends on the precipitating electron spectra. Thechanges in the emhion ratio can be used to learn more about the auroral accelerationregion and the role of the ionosphere in auroral emissions.Field-aligned bursts.....-....,....-...,..tested for theQ1 PC1 bus cardBoth these projects mere sofixare des elopment efforts tonards contributing to dlfferentaspects of Roboucs and lZ1echatronics projects m the Controls and Roboucs Group..
