Abstract : ALagnetic interactions in molecule-based materials have been the subject of veryactive investigation in the past decade [l. 2. 3. 4. 51. For a molecule-based magnetconsisting of magnetic metai ions coordinated with non-magnetic organic species, boththe metal ions and the organic species contribute to the observed magnetism. Themetal ions are the source of magnetic moments. while the organic species providesupereschange pathways between the magnetic centers. -A change in the metal ionsand/or supereschange pathways produces a modification of the crystal structure?which in turn may affect the magnetic ground-state.
