Abstract : A sigdficant numberof pharmaceuticals and other biological products are produced by batchor fed-batch fermentations- Over the course of these fetmentatri, the concentrations of the keycomponents and theu time derivatives may change by s c v d orders of magnitude. The kiwticequations governing these changes are generally nonlineary representing the complex interplaybetween cellular physiology and environment. As a muit, modeling and prediction ofthe timecourse of a fennentation is a challenging task. Accurate models of fermentation would be usefblin the industrial production of biomolecules.
